“The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he's always doing both. ”

James A. Michener

  • Since co-founding Felt Soul Media in 2005, I've built my career around a simple principle: only take on work I care about deeply.

My photographic roots go back to shooting for the Telluride Daily Planet alongside Ben Knight — a partnership that eventually grew into Felt Soul Media and a shared commitment to using still photography as the foundation for our approach to cinematography. Filmmaking gradually took over, but the pull of the still image never left me.

Over the last decade, I've worked to close that gap — weaving still photography back into my storytelling practice, often alongside directing brand-supported documentaries, sometimes as a photographer working purely in that medium. I think of myself as a Director/Producer first and a photographer second, but the line between those two identities keeps blurring, and I'm glad for it.

I live in Golden, Colorado with my wife, two daughters, 23 chickens, and 3 cats.

  • I have been fortunate to have images published by Patagonia, Yeti Coolers, The Wall Street Journal, The Flyfishing Journal, The Drake, The New York Times, Modern in Denver, The New York Post and many others.

  • I am licensed drone operator and certified scuba diver.

I am a board member of the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art and a co-founder the Colorado College Documentary Exploration Grant at my alma mater. I also coach Girls U8 Soccer and take it way too seriously.
